2008 Terminal Server and how to disable ie Proteced Mode
on April 25th, 2011 at 12:03 amMicrosoft Terminal Server is a handy tool but the new 2008 with ie8 Terminal Server is so tight in trying to save us from ourselves that you can’t even use the ie8 browser. The “Protected Mode” is enabled and grayed out too. As I searched Google there were a lot of convoluted answers for what turns out to be a very simple fix.
From the menu : Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Click the top level on the left and then on the right side under Security Info “Configure IE ESC” > Turn Off for users + Administrators
Found at serverfault.com.
After that you can open ie and turn that “Protected Mode” thing off.
